Course information

You can become a certified equine massage therapist, after which you can gain admission to the Danish Equine Massagetherpist Association (DHMF), through which you will be insured.

It is possible to take additional courses or education offered by The Danish Equine Academy afterwards or concurrently, depending on your interest and needs.

The education costs DKK 48,000 and takes approximately 1 1/2 years.

Payment is made per module. Invoices are issued approximately 14 days before each module start.

Education for Certified Equine Massagetherapist

In the comprehensive equine massage course, students will delve into five modules of intensive study before the final exam. Below, you can find further information regarding the rich curriculum.

Module 1 - Introduction to Equine Physiotherapy and Massage:

Fundamentals of equine physiotherapy and massage.
Basics of equine anatomy and physiology.
Understanding the horse’s skeleton and reference points.

Module 2 - Gait Analysis and Massage Techniques:

Gait analysis and exterior analysis.
Various massage techniques.
Theory of muscles and their function.
Exploration of fascia and nerves.
In-depth insights into equine anatomy and biomechanics.

Module 3 - Sports Massage and Core Stability:

In this module, you will learn how to use a specific massage technique to prevent injuries and assist the horse if an injury has occurred.
You will be able to apply this massage technique to help the horse perform at its best.
You will be able to analyze where the horse is tender, injured, or experiencing issues in specific muscles and subsequently provide relief.
Introduction to the horse and rider’s core stability and training in this area will be covered.
Practical exercises are included as part of the course.

Module 6 - Final Exam:

The course concludes with a comprehensive final exam, where you’ll demonstrate your understanding of equine massage, covering all the material from the previous modules. This course provides a thorough and structured education in equine massage, preparing you for a successful career in this specialized field.
