The course is aimed at qualified equine massage therapists, students currently training to become equine massage therapists, and other equine practitioners who wish to advance their skills and/or expand their range of treatment methods
In human medicine, taping has long been an important part of established treatment. Taping supports virtually the entire spectrum of physical therapy.
Taping is successfully used in performance sports, both for humans and horses. Documentation and treatment results clearly show that a specialized tape therapy for horses, carried out by a trained practitioner/therapist, can provide the same therapeutic benefits as in human medicine.
Taping works with various techniques targeting proprioceptive muscles, ligaments, and joints. It can be used to influence muscle tone, joint mobility, and stabilization. Additionally, as the tape lifts the tissue, it improves blood and lymph circulation. This stimulates the body’s self-healing mechanisms. The products are made of pure cotton with elastic bands and are free of medication. Your horse maintains full mobility. The elasticity of the tape is inspired by the properties of muscles.
Various taping techniques can be used for muscle tension, ligament and tendon issues, swelling/edema, lymph nodes, overuse, muscle spasms, and to correct improper and energy-draining movement patterns. Whether the horse has undergone surgery, is in rehabilitation, or is in training therapy, taping provides a range of new treatment options.
Over the course of the three-day seminar, you will receive a fundamental introduction to taping techniques.
The course will give you insight into taping techniques for:
Muscle systems, with examples such as supraspinatus, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, brachiocephalicus, biceps femoris, erector spinae, abdominal muscles
Tendon and ligament taping, with examples such as the Achilles tendon, flexor and extensor tendons, nuchal ligament, etc.
Fascia taping, with examples such as thoracolumbar fascia, patella correction, scar tissue
Lymph taping, with examples such as general drainage, edema, hematomas
Tape treatment for Achilles tendon issues, hoof problems, knee problems, misalignments, “saddle cramps”
Lower back pain
Swayback (lordosis)
Rib issues
And more…
