The name osteopathy comes from the Greek words OSTEON, meaning “bone”, and PATHOS, meaning “suffering” in relation to disease. It is a treatment method founded by the American physician Andrew Taylor Still in 1882.
Osteopathy is a form of treatment or manual medicine that involves the bones, joints, muscles, connective tissue and more. Various techniques are used such as manipulation, mobilization, muscle energy techniques, massage, physiotherapy and others.
The aim of osteopathy is to restore the body’s natural function. The connection between form and function is central – and should function optimally.
Search for the suffering: Find it → fix it → leave it, and nature will do the rest. If you remove the cause, healing will follow.

Restores the horse’s natural movement pattern
By removing blockages and improving the mobility and quality of the joints, functional limitations and tensions in both joints and soft tissue are corrected.
The treatment also contributes to better blood circulation and drainage in the affected area, which promotes the body’s own healing process.
The function of the nervous system is also positively affected. This is done by releasing nerves that have been pinched or subjected to pressure, and by ensuring an adequate blood supply to the tissue.
At MySir, we use a wide range of treatment techniques to ensure your horse receives the best possible and most targeted treatment. Equine osteopathy is just one of our effective methods. We also work with techniques such as equine massage, equine physiotherapy, kinesiotaping and acupressure – to name just a few.
The treatments are combined and individually adapted based on the horse’s needs and challenges, ensuring optimal results for both well-being and performance.
